Today's first letter is sent by MITSUO YAMADA, a Japanese listener who is currently staying in London. He writes, that he also tuned into Brussels Calling when he was still in Japan. Last year, for instance, he heard our report on the visit of the Japanese Emperor Akihito to our country and says he was very much impressed when he heard the national anthems of Japan and Belgium. Now that he has come to Europe, Mr. Yamada has even become more curious to find out more about the culture and history of our country. And he shares this curiosity with CHRISTOPHER ELLIOT from Tasmania in Australia. Christopher recently saw a video and photographs from a friend of his, who made an art trip through Belgium and France and the images of our country really impressed him. We can only recommand to keep on listening to us, Christopher, if you want to learn more about our country.
"Greetings from America" is the opening sentence of a cheerful letter sent by BETSY BALLIOS, from Philadelphia in the United States. Betsy is a student presently studying French and German in high school. She adds that in the future she would like to persue a career in journalism. Because schooldays start early, Betsy is only able to listen to our programms during the weekend, so she's locking forward to the summer holidays, when she can listen to us every day. And of course, Betsy, you can join our international listeners club. Membership is open to all and free of charge.
At the end of this feature, we'll tell how you can join us. Judging by the heading of his letter also MUSTAPHA MOHAMMED is a student. The heading reveals that Mustapha is a member of the Mechanical Engineering Students Association of the Kaduna polytechnic. He has been listening to us for over three years now and wonders how he can receive our bi—monthly Club Echo Magazine. Well, Mustapha, just like our QSL cards and our souvenirs, our magazine is reserved for members only. So, don't hesitate to join us. DAVID E. EKA JR. writing us from Port Harcourt in Nigeria, says he enjoys our programms, but sadly enough, reception quality is very poor there. A programm shedule is on its way to you, David, so that you can try out our other frequencies to Africa. And apparently NURRADDEEN IBRIHIM ADAM writing us from Kano State, also in Nigeria, DID find the more suitable frequency for their country. Because Ibrihim reports good reception on 15.550 khz in the 19 meter band.
ROBERT CHESTER living in South Australia, closely follows the events in Rwanda on our station. He writes that the ethnic violence in the Southafrican country is shocking. "It's interesting to note", he says,"how many of the conflicts in the world at present are ethnic. It seems that the goal of all races to live in harmony is still a distant dream.“
End of quotation. Over to England now, to DAN SHELBY, who heard our report on the opening of the Channel tunnel. He hopes sincerely that the channel ferries won't close down. And finally, we'd like to mention a postcard featuring different views of the splendid Yorkshire Dales in the North of England. It was sent by MS D. TAYLOR from Keighley in West Yorkshire. She reports good reception on the 5910 kHz and would like to receive an application form for our International Listeners Club. And why don't you follow her example. Write us a letter saying that you would like to join the club and we will send you the necessary forms. Fill them in and return them to us. Members are asked to provide us with two detailed reception reports per month, and in return they will get our QSL cards, our magazine and all the RVI souvenirs. One address for everything : Brussels Calling, PO BOX 26, 1000 Brussels in Belgium.

Yours sincerely,

Dominique Wittevrongel

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, thy King cometh unto thee; He is the righteous Saviour, and He shall speak peace unto the heathen.
